Nora Orlandi - The Strange Vice Of Mrs. Wardh (1970)

The Strange Vice of Mrs. Wardh (a.k.a. Blade of the Ripper, Next Victim) has a lot going for it. A great director in Sergio Martino, an absoutely stunning lead in Edwige Fenech (who never looked better) and an excellent soundtrack by one of the few women in the field, Nora Orlandi. All of these things combine to make for one of the best and most satisfying gialli to come out of the 70's. Enjoy this wonderful soundtrack!

Ennio Morricone - Frantic (1988)

Going beyond the 60's and 70's to fill a request for Albatroz. This is slightly more modern than most of the Morricone on this blog, but that's no reason to dismiss it. It's still got plenty of the Maestro's classic touches and is really an excellent soundtrack. Give it a shot.

Lalo Schifrin - Bullitt (1968)

A recent request by "anonymous", this is the 2000 release of the exciting Schifrin soundtrack to the classic Steve McQueen film. Here's a little more about this release from Moviegrooves:

The Original Soundtrack to Bullitt (the actual music used in the movie) has never been released. The LP version that appeared back in the late 60's itself comprised of re-recorded versions - these versions were slightly more jazzy in order to appeal to a wider audience.

This CD contains re-recorded versions of the arrangements from the original Bullitt soundtrack LP which were recorded in 2000 by the WDR Big Band and conducted by Lalo Schifrin. It also contains re-recorded 'movie versions' of some of the tracks too. There's also a few previously unreleased cues; "Just Coffee", "Architect's Building" and a new arrangement of the main theme for jazz guitar. A superb set of tunes.

01. Main Title (03:05) (Movie Version)
02. Shifting Gears (03:12)
03. Ice Pick Mike (03:58) (Movie Version)
04. Cantata For Combo (02:51)
05. Room 26 (02:28) (Movie Version)
06. On The Way To San Mateo (02:36)
07. Just Coffee (03:03)
08. Main Title (02:13) (Record Version)
09. The Aftermath Of Love (03:01)

A recent request from Ed, this is a disc everyone should have in their collection. This long out-of-print compilation contains tracks from three of Jess Franco's best films (to me, anyway) - Vampyros Lesbos, She Killed In Ecstasy and The Devil Came From Akasava. It's safe to say that this amazing music by Manfred Hubler and Siegfried Schwab is what sucked me into the world of "sleazy" listening all those years ago. It was like nothing I had ever heard before. A condensed version entitled "Vampyros Lesbos Sexadelic Dance Party" was also released, but I chose to share the full version. Enjoy!

01. The Lions And The Cucumber (05:07)

Ennio Morricone - Dedicato Al Mare Egeo (1979)

Dedicated To The Aegean Sea was a Japanese/Italian co-production starring Claudio Aliotti, Stefania Casini and Olga Karlatos. I've never seen the film, but if it's half as good as the Morricone soundtrack then I'm sure I would love it. Let me know what you think.

Carlo Rustichelli - Alfredo, Alfredo (1972)
